In November of 1914, Donald Fraser enlisted in the 31st Battalion. He fought in every major battle in which Canada participated, including Vimy, and recorded his experiences in a personal diary.

Felix Cullen enrolled in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1914 and saw combat in Europe, including the St. Éloi and Somme regions. He recorded his experiences in a personal diary.

In 1915, Claudius Corneloup enlisted as a volunteer with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He joined the ranks of the 22nd Battalion, the only Francophone infantry unit, where he experienced the horror of combat. Unlike many of his fellow soldiers, Corneloup left a written record of his memoirs.
